THE IMPORTANCE OF HOT WATER HEATERS, GAS & WATER LINES

It’s difficult for most people to consider in today’s advanced society, but for most of history humans have not had the plumbing luxuries that allow us to heat, drink, bathe, cook and wash using clean potable water in the comfort of our own homes. Although advances such as aqueducts allowed the ancient Romans to move water to and from bath houses and city streets, truly modern plumbing and gas advances didn’t come until around the turn of the 19th century.

Even today, plumbing and natural gas materials technology is advancing and inspiring new innovative ways to add to human convenience. Although most people don’t give much thought to their hot water heaters, gas and water lines, they would be acutely aware of how important they are if these bits of technology were ever taken away. Without hot, clean, potable water and natural gas to allow us to cook and heat our home, things would be quite a bit different and less comfortable for all of us.

Heaters, a relatively recent innovation that was developed in the early part of the last century, have become much more accessible, easily installed and advanced as materials and equipment has advanced. From smaller home hot water heaters to larger units in apartment complexes and commercial buildings, water heaters are an extremely important aspect of almost every residential and commercial building in the country. They not only heat water for cooking, cleaning and bathing, they also store a readily available collection of water for use whenever a homeowner might need it. Unlike in past centuries, humans no longer have to wait for liquid to heat up in order to get hot water as soon as they need it.

And, for the most part, hot water heaters perform the vital function of heating and storing potable water without any supervision on the part of the homeowner. While service calls by licensed professionals are occasionally needed, the older tanks must eventually be replaced, hot water heaters provide a reliable function that doesn’t require much attention from the owner.

Without the lines that bring natural gas and potable water into our homes, though, hot water heaters would be useless. Gas and water lines provide hot water heaters with a combustible substance to create heat, as well as the water that needs to be heated and stored. Our natural gas, propane and potable water supplies allow the plumbing equipment in our home to provide us with substances and services that make our lives immeasurable simpler.

While we have the luxury of taking water heaters, gas and water lines for granted in our lives, never forget the important role they play in bringing convenience and ease to our everyday lives. Thanks to trained plumbers and hot water heater repair technicians, the rest of us have the ability to reap the benefits of this vital technology and leave its maintenance up to the professionals.
